From its humble beginning in 1972 with 20 tournaments in the United Kingdom and Western Europe to 50 tournaments in the 2011 season spanning 29 destinations across Europe, Australasia and the Middle East, The European Tour is a vigorous and thriving global brand. Testament to its strength and development, The European Tour has witnessed an increase in its Official Prize Money from €599,084 in 1975 to a total of €116,892,269 in 2008.
With Members of 49 different nationalities, The European Tour remains committed to promoting the game globally at all levels. The 50 tournaments on the 2011 European Tour International Schedule will culminate in the Dubai World Championship presented by DP World where the winner of The Race to Dubai will be decided and the season-long competition, with a projected total prize pool of €130,000,000, will come to a close.
